"I think we've finally put everything together defensively," Parkinson said. "Earlier in the year we made a lot of defensive mistakes, including me, which led to a lot of defeats. These past two games we've defended well and I've done what has been asked of me.
"We knew we had to be strong in the air, so I focused the whole game on being smart in the air."
Fremont's aggressive play finally earned it the lead on Chambers' 65th-minute goal, but Evans' response sparked the turnaround, evening the tempo and possession over the final minutes."Give Layton credit, they played hard and they disrupted us," said Fremont coach Brian Gines, whose squad finished the year at 10-5-3. "I'm proud of this group of boys. They've given me a lot during their time here."
