To their immense credit, they didn't waste any time getting back into the game.
Adam Evans found an equalizer just 30 seconds later, and Mark Rigby scored in second-half stoppage time to propel the Lancers to a 2-1 come-from-behind win on Friday and a spot in next week's 5A semifinals."It shows a lot of character about this team," Layton coach Rick Talamantez said of his team's comeback on Friday. "We've been behind in some situations where we've had to make comebacks, and these kids really, really hung in there and even with the one goal, they never doubted their abilities to continue to play.
"A lot of teams would really just flatten out, but they really refused to lose. They'd worked too hard, (and) they wanted to prove to a lot of people that, 'Yeah, even though our record wasn't great, we were talented (and) we are talented.' "
